Did you now that this is not first time that Poreč is hosting national handball teams?
After successfully organizing the 2009 World Handball Championship, Croatia gained the confidence to organize the European Men's Handball Championship, which will take place from 12 to 28 January 2018 in Croatia. City Poreč has signed contract for the co-organizing of the European Handball Men's Handball Championship between the City of Poreč and the Croatian Handball Association and so Poreč officially became one of the hosts of the European Championships next to Zagreb, Split and Varaždin.
The Žatika hall in Poreč will host the teams of the European Championship - Norway, France, Austria and Belarus. So you will be able to see one of the bigest names in handball like brothers Karabatić, Bergerud, Tonnesen . In this group are actually playing 2 national teams which were last year in final of World Handball Championship in France. Really tempting!!!
The interest of fans is great, especially Norwegians and Austrians. They are planning to stay in Porec in the city of Poreč, and in order to make the whole city live with the championship, a fan zone will be organized in the city. Main attention, however, is on arrangement of the Žatika hall.
All four cities will host the group stage of the competition while Zagreb and Varaždin will host the main stage of the competition, and the Zagreb Arena will host the semifinals and finals. Ticket sales for EHF EURO 2018 started on January 1, 2017 and if you have not yet purchased your own you can do it at ULAZNICE.HR. The official mascot of the championship is stylized called TOR.
This is real invitation for all handball lovers. Come and support your favourite team!
